Foam Coffee partners with local bottle shop Isla Wines to offer in-store wine selection

GULF SHORES — Looking to take your coffee run in a new direction? Foam Coffee recently announced their partnership with Isla Wine, a local bottle shop, offering a curated selection of wines in-store.

Robin Riddell Jones, owner of Isla Wine, said she first fell in love with wine in her 20s and has worked in the wine industry for over 20 years now.

"When I moved down here from Nashville four years ago, I saw the need immediately," Jones said. "We needed a shop that would carry wines that we wanted to drink, made from families, not corporations, and are simply delicious. Wines that are chosen because they are loved not because it was a good deal."

Jones said the collaboration came about through her friendship with Saidy Troha, owner of Foam Coffee.

"I was looking for a space, and she mentioned Foam might be a good fit until I find a bigger space," Jones said. "Working within Foam's space brings limited space; I only have room for 60 selections."

However, Jones said the limited space will provide her with the opportunity to curate her favorite selections and rotate them, keeping the selection fresh.

"I take it as a great opportunity to have only the wines I feel strongly about at the time. There is no need to have a lot of wine when I only need to have what I want up on the shelves," Jones said. "Some of the wines will be limited in availability, so it will be changing all the time which keeps it fun."

In addition to the wines offered in-store, Jones said there is also a new opportunity for customers to sign up for the Isla Wine Club, which ranges from $70 to $280 per month.

"The wine club is a monthly wine club, available in three, six or 12 bottle sizes. I curate the bags and put bottles in that are delicious but maybe not wines that you would choose on your own," Jones said.

Jones said one of her favorite parts of the club is introducing customers to new wines and expanding their palate.

"I always love introducing folks to chillable reds. It's warm down here most of the year, and there's nothing like a red wine that is still refreshing," Jones said.

However, Jones said that there will still be plenty of options available on the shelves to suit most preferences.

"Don't expect to know most of the wines when you come in, which will keep it fun," Jones said. "I hope this brings excitement and adventure. Of course, there will be something for most up upon the shelves. I promise."
