Another member of the first-ever state championship football team at Gulf Shores High School is heading to play college football after junior running back Kolin Wilson committed to Cincinnati on Sunday.

The 5-foot-9, 185-pounder was named to the first-team all-state offense after he set the single-season rushing record during the Dolphins’ undefeated run to the Class 5A state title. Wilson logged triple-digit yardage in all but three games en route to 2,356 all-purpose yards and 33 touchdowns.

He also represented Gulf Shores on High School Football America’s Academic All-American team with a sustained grade point average of 3.7 or higher. Wilson lists a 4.3 GPA next to an ACT score of 27 in his X/Twitter bio.

Recognized as a 3-star recruit with a scout grade of 85 from 247Sports, Wilson is ranked No. 45 in Alabama’s Top247 and the 74th running back in the country.

Wilson announced 16 total Division I offers, including six that arrived over a two-week span in March. The Cincinnati Bearcats were the third team to offer after the state championship when Wilson announced the offer on Feb. 2.

In-state schools including UAB, Troy and Alabama State were on Wilson’s list. Service academies including Air Force and Navy were also among the suitors next to Ivy League schools in Penn, Cornell and Harvard. Other announced offers included Arkansas State, Louisiana-Monroe, Austin Peay, Toledo, Southeastern Missouri, Northwestern and Western Kentucky.

Cincinnati, head coached by Scott Satterfield, is fresh off its first season as a member of the Big 12 after 10 seasons in the American Athletic Conference. The Bearcats finished 3-9 overall with a 1-8 mark in conference play. Cincinnati became the first team from a Group of Five conference to make the College Football Playoff in 2021.
