Impact 100 awards $372,000 in grants

Four Baldwin County non-profits got a big boost last week, as the Impact 100 organization awarded a total of $372,000 in grants.

Ten nonprofits gave presentation to the group at the Daphne Civic Center last week, as the Impact 100 members voted on which four would be given grants of $93,000 each.

Impact 100 President Miranda Schrubbe said it was a difficult choice for the members to make to narrow the choices down to the final four.

“Each and every one of these organizations does wonderful things across our county,” Schrubbe said. “Every year, we always say that we wish we could give a grant to each group, and we will keep expanding our membership to try to increase what we are able to do.”

This year, the winners were the South Baldwin Community Theatre, Baldwin County Library Cooperative, The Family Center and Under His Wings, Inc..

Each of the organizations was thrilled to receive the grant, with representatives saying they were incredibly thankful for Impact 100’s generosity.

“Getting funding like this makes a huge difference for all of us,” Liz Reed with the Baldwin County Library Cooperative said. “Our grant is going to go toward the purchase of a bookmobile that will be used to bring books and a love of reading to people all over Baldwin County. We’re excited to move forward on this project and are incredibly grateful for the grant that will make this happen.”

Since its founding in 2008, Impact 100 has awarded $2.1 in grants to Baldwin County nonprofits.

The organization is a women’s philanthropic group, which accepts members 18 years of age and above.

Each member donates $1,000 with 100 percent of the donations awarded to grant recipients. The concept promotes women joining together to make a greater impact than most could make alone.

At present there are almost 400 members.
