Magnolia Springs working on new property

MAGNOLIA SPRINGS - The Town of Magnolia Springs recently made the decision to purchase 14774 Gates Avenue, the future home of Town Hall and the town library. The decision was made in order to keep the schoolyard property, located beside 14774 Gates Avenue and the home of Magnolia Springs Volunteer Fire Department, greenspace for the community.

An ad hoc committee was created to work on the property, and the newest mission is to clear the property so future plans can be designed. Three estimates have been gathered, the lowest being $800 and the highest being $3,000.

The committee is working to enter into a contract with the contractor that most closely matches everything they are looking to accomplish on the property. One of the things the committee is looking for is a company that will work with them to protect any trees on the property that are bigger than six inches or that are currently protected by the town.

While no date has been set, it is possible the property will be cleared during August or September.

Town Hall remains closed to the public except by appointment only. A mask is required to enter Town Hall. City employees are still at work inside and are available by calling 251-965-9888 or emailing clerkms@gulftel.com. Check out http://www.townofmagnoliasprings.org for more information.
