Police say an argument between two brothers in Fort Morgan led to gunfire and the death of one man.

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call in the 2800 block of Fort Morgan Road about 9:40 p.m. July 3 after receiving information someone had been shot.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies who responded found an unresponsive adult male in the front yard of a residence suffering from gunshot wounds. Medical personal who responded could not revive the man, who has been identified by BCSO as Jason Estabrook.

Deputies’ preliminary investigation suggests an altercation took place throughout the evening between Estabrook and his brother, James Estabrook. At some point, James Estabrook, 49 of Huntsville, armed himself and shot his brother three times, according to the sheriff’s office.

James Estabrook was detained at the scene and later arrested, charged with murder and taken to the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Center. He has not been given bond as of Tuesday afternoon.

The investigation is ongoing.
