NextHome Gulf Coast Living and The Haven animal shelter have announced their collaborative food drive.

"Luke Day, June 15, is a special day of giving for the company, named for NextHome's dog mascot," the press release stated. "This year they have again selected The Haven to be the recipient. From now through June 14, the company is holding a special pet food and people food drive."

The drop-off location is 19605 S. Greeno Road in Fairhope where NextHome Gulf Coast Living sits.

Orange boxes will be at both locations on June 15, and staff and volunteers will gather for a ribbon cutting at the real estate office at 9 a.m. and will head to The Haven shortly after.

"The boxes will be for pet food drop-off and also pickup by people who need pet food. The boxes will be permanently placed for ongoing food drop-offs, as well as pickups by people who need help," according to the press release.

In addition to placing donation boxes at their main office, staff will also stock other donation boxes throughout the county with the food collected prior to June 15.

"It is much more beneficial for pets to stay in their homes with their owners than to become a stray or to end up at a shelter," said Michael Graham, executive director of The Haven.

"Providing food for them is a win-win for the pet, the owner and the community. We are grateful to NextHome Gulf Coast Living for their compassion and foresight in arranging the food drive."
