In an engaging ceremony on Monday, April 22, second-graders from Rockwell and Stonebridge Elementary Schools gathered in the Rockwell Elementary School Cafeteria. The occasion marked the culmination of their participation in the 10-week Super Citizen Program, during which they delved into lessons about their roles in shaping America's future and paid tribute to local heroes.

Under the guidance of Mr. Palmer, a hand-based character who leads students in DVD-based lessons and hands-on instruction, the students embarked on a journey to understand their civic responsibilities. Utilizing the "Hands on Liberty" DVD series alongside corresponding activities and lesson plans, they explored topics ranging from civics and character to financial literacy and social studies, catering to their tech-savvy generation. Through the program's culminating activity, Helping Hands, students translated these lessons into real-world applications.

During the ceremony, students selected heroes who exemplified outstanding citizenship qualities and delivered essays about them on stage before presenting them with Liberty Pins. Through this process, they internalized the message that honoring heroes contributes to their own heroic identity.

The event, as well as the provision of Super Citizen teaching kits, was made possible by the generous support of the Baldwin County Community Alliance. Their partnership enables the education, inspiration and empowerment of our future leaders, shaping them into the Next Great Americans.
