Saenger Summer Classic Movie Series returns

When the summer temperature makes it unbearable to be outside, it is nice to retreat to a cool movie theater.

The 2023 Saenger Summer Classic Movie Series Kicked off July 6 with "Good Will Hunting." Each Sunday at 3 p.m. and Thursday at 7 p.m., a different classic will roll on the big screen.

Tickets are $6 for adults, and children under 12 and seniors are $3. Tickets are available to purchase at the box office only.

The 2023 Saenger Summer Classic Movie lineup:

  • July 6, 7 p.m. – "Good Will Hunting"
  • July 9, 3 p.m. – "Gone with the Wind"
  • July 13, 7 p.m. – "Pretty Woman"
  • July 16, 3 p.m. – "Mamma Mia!"
  • July 23, 3 p.m. – "Toy Story"
  • July 27, 7 p.m. – "Wedding Crashers"
  • July 30, 3 p.m. – "Back to the Future"
  • Aug. 3, 7 p.m. – "The Notebook"
  • Aug. 6, 3 p.m. – "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory"
  • Aug. 10, 7 p.m. – "Fast Times at Ridgemont High"
  • Aug. 13, 3 p.m. – "To Kill a Mockingbird"
  • Aug. 17, 7 p.m. – "Bridget Jones's Diary"
  • Aug. 20, 3 p.m. – "Pirates of the Caribbean"
  • Aug. 24, 7 p.m. – "The Breakfast Club"
  • Aug. 27, 3 p.m. – "Smokey and the Bandit"

The Saenger Theatre supports a local charitable endeavor each year with the movie series. This summer, patrons are encouraged to support the United Cerebral Palsy of Mobile.

United Cerebral Palsy of Mobile serves individuals with disabilities in 32 counties of south Alabama, covering Mobile to Montgomery. They help children and adults with disabilities live with increased independence, productivity and self-confidence.

Movie patrons are encouraged to bring an item and drop it off at the table in the lobby before getting popcorn.

The items needed include:

  • Antibacterial hand soap
  • Sanitizing wipes
  • Disinfecting spray
  • Baby wipes
  • Antibacterial all-purpose cleaner
  • Paper towels
  • Gallon size Ziploc bags
  • Shower cleaning spray
  • Sharpie markers
