HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Baldwin County High School alum Taylor Robbins was named the Dixie Darling of the Year at the University of Southern Mississippi. Taylor has been a part of the famed USM dance team for four years and currently serves as its Vice President.
While at BCHS she was a member of the award-winning Tigerettes under the leadership of Elizabeth Bridges Byrd (a former Dixie Darling and winner of this same award). Taylor is a senior at USM majoring in biology with a minor in chemistry. She is a part of the Golden Key National Honor Society, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society.
During her time at USM, Taylor has traveled abroad to Southeast Asia on a mission trip and Dublin, Ireland for a band trip. She was also the third runner-up in the Miss USM Pageant in 2015-2016.
The award, presented by Alan Blakely with Camellia Health, also includes a $500 scholarship. Following graduation, Taylor plans to attend pharmacy school.
