Terry Joy Langford passed away peacefully Sept. 28, 2016 of complications from several medical issues.

A celebration of life service will be held for her at Swift Presbyterian Church in Miflin on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 10:30 that morning, with Pastor Jody Beth Melton presiding.

A family and friends get-together will follow immediately afterward.

Known as "Joy," she was born Dec. 27, 1936 to Phillip E. Langford and May Epperson Langford in Montgomery.

She attended Vanderbilt University, and later graduated from Montevallo.

Following a professional career in Washington, D.C., she retired from the U.S. Postal Service Data Processing Center and moved to Foley in Baldwin County where her maternal grandparents, Roy and Lula Epperson, were pioneer settlers in the early 1900s.

Joy had a lovely, natural voice, and in her younger adult years sang in choirs at universities and churches whereever she was attending.

She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Foley. She was also an active worker in both county and state Republican organizations, holding various party positions over the years.

Joy is survived by her brother, Gene Langford and his wife, Sidney of Grass Valley, California, their extended family; and by close cousins locally and in other states.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Community Hospice of Baldwin County and to animal rescue. They need you.
