FAIRHOPE — Monday, June 5, Thomas Hospital welcomed the 37 students from Baldwin County High School, Bayshore Christian School, Daphne High School, Fairhope High School, Gulf Shores High School, Renaissance School of the Eastern Shore, Robertsdale High School, St. Michael Catholic High School and UMS-Wright Preparatory School who are participating in the Thomas Hospital Auxiliary’s Junior Volunteer program this summer.

They are volunteering in various departments at Thomas Hospital, including the Cardiovascular/Telemetry/Progressive Care Unit (2 North), Cath Lab, Clinical Education, Colony Rehabilitation Hospital, Endoscopy, Fitness Center, Gift Shop, Physical Therapy, Post-Surgical Unit (3 North), Radiology, Same Day Surgery, Surgery, Surgery Waiting Area and Women’s and Children’s Unit (4 South).

The Thomas Hospital Auxiliary’s Junior Volunteer program is offered to high school students between the ages 14 to 17 who maintain at least a B average and have an interest in volunteering at the hospital during the summer. The program runs from June 5 to July 28.

“This is a great opportunity for our area students to get involved in and learn about health careers early in their lives,” said Melita Willkie, manager of volunteer services at Thomas Hospital. “We look forward to offering them a wonderful place to volunteer and the opportunity to provide a valuable service to their community.”
