The Orange Beach Community Theatre’s production of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast,” the Broadway musical has come to a successful end. COVID-19 delays gave the cast and crew nine months of rehearsal to master the complicated show and it paid off. All six shows sold out before the first curtain call Jan. 8.

The large production directed by C. Stefan Morrisette had a cast packed with local talent. Morrisette played the demanding role of the Beast. Assistant director and production manager Rena McCoy stepped into a leadership role during the production.

The large cast of locals danced and sang their way into the crowds’ hearts. This was evident during the meet and greet after the show. Little girls dressed in their finest princess gowns waited patiently to meet Belle played by Bailey Kennon while a line of young ladies patiently waited to meet Gaston played by Jeb Smith.

Everything about the production was first class from the set to the costumes. The children playing the pack of wolves had glowing red eyes. Madame de la Grande Bouche’s gown featured a drawer that opened allowing actress Polly Pittman to pull items out during the show to the delight of the crowd.
