SILVERHILL, Alabama — A pair of wrecks near Hill Road in Silverhill over the weekend resulted in a two serious injuries and one death.

A Robertsdale man was pronounced dead on the scene of a single-vehicle accident early Friday morning, March 16, said Sgt. Michael Taylor, Silverhill’s acting police chief.

At approximately 5:05 a.m. March 16 a passing motorist observed a vehicle on the side of the road on County Road 52, just east of Hill Road, Taylor said.

A Silverhill patrol officer responded to the scene and found the driver and lone occupant of the vehicle, identified as 26-year-old Justin Wainwright of Robertsdale.

Upon inspection, it was found that Wainwright had been ejected from the vehicle. He was not wearing a seat belt, Taylor said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

“It is unclear at this time what caused the accident,” Taylor said. “We are conducting an ongoing investigation.”

Then on Saturday afternoon, an adult driver and juvenile passenger sustained serious injuries after striking and taking out an electrical pole on County Road 54, just west of Hill Road, Taylor said.

The driver was transported by helicopter to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola with head trauma and broken bones. According to the officer on scene, the driver was in stable, but serious condition.

The juvenile was transported by ambulance to Thomas Hospital in Fairhope, also with serious injuries. No further information was available on the condition of the vehicle’s occupants.
