ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — The Robertsdale Garden Club held a plant exchange at its May 9 meeting. Members brought plants to share with other members. Guests who attended the meeting were Esther Defrancesco and Mary Nabors.

The final meeting of President Jimmie Lou Ramey’s term included committee reports, report of member plantings, and installation of new officers. Officers elected for a 2-year term beginning in September are Shelly Yntema, president; Ken Ramey, first vice president; Linda Farrell, second vice president; Hilda O’Clair, secretary; Charlotte Zinner, treasurer; Ramona Wagner, corresponding secretary; Sandee Warren, parliamentarian; Cyndi Gisczinski, historian/scrapbook; Mary Ann Lindsay, publicity; and Katie Warren, horticulture/conservation. Katie Warren conducted the installation of officers creating a dry plant arrangement with each officer inserting a plant in the arrangement.

Jimmie Lou Ramey reported that there is construction buzz at the senior center. The center will have a new roof, new gutters and new drains upon completion of the project. Sarah Duncan, director of the center, thanked the garden club for its persistence in getting the work done.

Ramey also reported that new criteria will be added to the scholarship application next year. The applicant who applied was disqualified due to missing the deadline. The applicant was also not going into a landscape/conservation field.

Door prizes were won by Mary Nabors, Mary Ann Lindsay, Linda Morgan and Cyndi Gisczinski.

The club will reconvene meetings and activities on Tuesday, Sept. 12.
