FAIRHOPE, Ala. -- The St. Michael Catholic Cardinals took a 7-6 lead into halftime on a Luke Farrell dive from the McIntosh 1-yard line. St. Michael then extended that to 10-6 with a 22-yard field goal by Will Edmiston in the third quarter.
But the Demons came back in the fourth period with a four-yard touchdown run by George Thomas and a 70-yard touchdown pass from TaKeldrick Jackson to Benard Dixon.
The Cardinals rallied down the stretch but were unable to convert in the final seconds. McIntosh travels to Marengo High next. St. Michael’s, still looking for a win in their first official season in the AHSAA, returns to region action at Bayside Academy.
Bayside improved to 4-4 overall and 2-3 in 3A Region 1’s standings with a 35-6 road win at Excel Oct. 12. Andrew Smith scored two rushing touchdowns, Thomas Cicco and Nathan Cook added one each on the ground while Cunningham tossed a 25-yard touchdown pass to Mac Douglas. Douglas was 5-for-5 on point-after kicks.
Daphne improved to 2-3 in 6A Region 1 and 3-4 overall with a 13-6 win over the Golden Bears (2-4, 2-6) in Robertsdale.
