JOSEPHINE - Do your kids love to fish? Do they love to support good causes? Then sign up for the Wolf Bay Watershed Watch Organization’s annual Stan Mahoney Youth Fishing Tournament, to be held at Pirate’s Cove Marina & Restaurant.
Pre-check in and captains meeting will be held on Friday, Oct. 8 at the Foley Interpretive Center (23030 Wolf Bay Drive) beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tourney fishing begins on Oct. 8 at 6 p.m. and continues until 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 9, immediately followed by weigh-in. Dozens of prizes and door prizes will be handed out to winners during the ceremony.
Proceeds from the event go to scholarships for local students interested in environmental studies. Sponsorships are available, ranging from $1,500 (Redfish), $1,000 (Speckled Trout), $500 (Flounder), $250 (Catfish), $100 (Pin Fish), and in-kind donations.
Participants range in age from three to eighteen. Entry is free or $15 for entry and an event t-shirt. Shirts are available for participating youths and adults. Adults wishing to purchase shirts may include $15 and circle the desired shirt size on the entry form. Registration forms can be downloaded from www.wolfbaywatershedwatch.org. Forms and checks can be mailed to Stan Mahoney Youth Fishing Rodeo, 23030 Wolf Bay Drive, Foley, AL 36535 by Monday, Oct. 4 to assure t-shirt size, or you can pay online at www.wolfbaywatershedwatch.org. All applicants must complete a consent and release form to be signed by a parent or guardian. Forms and complete information can be found on the website.
