In a noteworthy shift, recent research indicates that the overall contribution of older workers to the labor force is on the rise, reaching approximately 11 million individuals. Over the last four decades, the older workforce has nearly quadrupled in size, reflecting a substantial and growing demographic.
Despite their wealth of expertise, maturity and perspective, professionals in their 50s, 60s and 70s often encounter unique challenges in the job market, including age bias and discrimination. Many qualified older workers find themselves overlooked for positions they are well-suited for.
AARP's work and jobs expert, Carly Roszkowski, will be available for interviews on Wednesday, Feb. 7, from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. CST, to discuss strategies for older workers to effectively showcase their skills and experience.
