Since beginning its field verification phase in 2023, the project has progressed steadily, with Geo-Comm technicians actively verifying addresses along the coastal regions, marking a crucial step forward in ensuring swift and accurate emergency assistance for residents and businesses alike.

Since Nov. 13, 2023, the project's field verification phase has been ongoing and is scheduled to continue until April 2024. As part of this initiative, Geo-Comm Field Technicians will be on-site from March 5 to March 19, focusing on verifying addresses along the coastal areas of the county. Residents may identify Geo-Comm vehicles, prominently marked with the company logo, and technicians wearing official Geo-Comm attire. It's essential to note that technicians will concentrate solely on confirming the locations of structures and house numbers without interacting with residents directly.

This partnership follows Gulf Coast Media's previous report in January, highlighting Baldwin County 911's efforts to validate addresses across the county. The organization identified over 57,000 addresses missing from its database, emphasizing the critical importance of accurate addressing for swift emergency responses. Scott Warner, GIS/addressing manager for Baldwin County 911, stressed the significance of this endeavor, noting that addresses not in the system could delay or impede emergency assistance.

Baldwin County 911 also collaborates with municipalities to assume addressing responsibilities countywide, ensuring accurate and standardized addressing, particularly within neighborhoods sharing zip codes. As part of this effort, Geo-Comm's Address Verification Project is currently underway, covering the northern part of the county and island communities.
