The Dogwood Trail Program has been a Baldwin County tradition for 64 years.
The annual pageant is sponsored by the Eastern Shore Optimist Club. Members work with each participant to advance their interpersonal skills by providing opportunities for public speaking, interview training, teaching poise and composure. Each participant is also held to a high standard of discipline leading up to the pageant in January.
"We want each young woman who signs up to know that we are dedicated to enhancing her future," said JoAnn Broadus, program director. "We teach all the participants lessons that will help them achieve their goals – from interviewing and public speaking to presentations and writing skills. Every single student will learn something valuable."
Those interested in participating in the 64th-annual Dogwood Trail Pageant and Scholarship Program are required to attend an orientation session with a parent or guardian.
