Baldwin County Public Schools is set to host the third annual college and career expo event on March 20, in an effort to connect current high school students, as well as community members with businesses and workforce leaders.

Per the release, the Baldwin Connect Career Expo is in partnership with the Baldwin County Career Tech and the Baldwin County Chambers of Commerce and is will be open to all 11th and 12th grade students across the county.

The event will host over 50 businesses and industry professionals from various careers, as well as the chance to win gift cards and other prizes.

"Whether you are looking for summer employment, internship, apprenticeship or ready for a career come learn about high demand, high wage opportunities in Southwest Alabama," the release stated.

Per the release, the prospective employers will have information ranging from current job openings and salaries to benefits and career pathways including education, certificates and the skills needed to be employed by their company.

According to a Feb. 2022 article from Gulf Coast Media, the first expo was held in 2022, to connect students with potential employers in a increasingly competitive workforce.

"(Education) is just where our heart is right now," Ivy Singley, employment services manager at Infirmary Health Solutions, said during the first expo. "For high school students, when you talk about the healthcare industry, all they really see are doctors and nurses and our job at this level is to educate them and answer whatever questions they might have about the wide range of opportunities in the healthcare field."

Additionally, the expo is an opportunity for high school students to look ahead and plan for their futures based on what employers are looking for in the current job market.

Per the release, students interested in attending the expo should bring their resumes for "straight-to-work" opportunities, and will attend the event in intervals. However, the general public is invited to attend the event at any time throughout the day.

The event will take place on March 20 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Baldwin County Coliseum.
