Bay Minette PD revs up for SRO program with charity motorcycle ride

Posted

Bay Minette Police Department (BMPD) is gearing up for a charitable event as they announce a Motorcycle Ride set to take place on Saturday, March 9. The ride aims to benefit the School Resource Officer (SRO) program, with all proceeds designated for the SRO Hour Glass Program, fostering meaningful interactions between law enforcement personnel and the youth within the community.

The scenic journey, commencing at Baldwin County High School, will wind its way through Monroe County before concluding at Beef 'O' Brady's in Spanish Fort for a post-ride lunch. Registration will kick off bright and early at 7 a.m., with kickstands going up promptly at 8:30 a.m. Participation is priced at $20 per bike, with an additional $10 for each rider joining the excursion.

The SRO Hour Glass Program aims to engage selected youth aged 12 to 17 in a variety of enriching experiences, including outdoor activities like hunting and fishing, as well as life skills workshops covering topics such as vehicle maintenance. Additionally, participants have the opportunity to embark on educational tours of local businesses and industries. Moreover, the SROs collaborate with school counselors to identify youth who will partake in the "Shop With a Cop" initiative during the holiday season.

Fundraisers held throughout the year play a pivotal role in supporting these invaluable programs, ensuring continued opportunities for positive engagement between law enforcement and the youth they serve.

To contribute to the cause or to learn more about the programs, individuals are encouraged to reach out to the Bay Minette Police Department by phone at (251) 580-2559.
