Chipotle's longest-streak customer: Dillon Wareham's new record and new 50-state challenge

What could you do every day for 657 days? Every single day, without missing a day?

Back in April, Gulf Coast Media introduced you to Dillon Wareham, a Mobile man and social media content creator. His challenge started in December 2021 when he needed fresh daily content. He had pulled into the Chipotle parking lot to pick up some lunch, pulled out his phone and challenged himself to eat there every day for 30 days.

His hope was to get noticed by Chipotle and get the elusive VIP card and a partnership to work together. After 30 days, he kept going but didn't hear from the brand. Then he hit a year.

"My first contact with Chipotle was day 369. I went 369 days without contact, without a like, a hi or anything. That was tough. You start going crazy," he said. "When I hit the year mark and they didn't contact me, I was like what is going on? Then day 369 they liked my year video and messaged me."

In January, Chipotle challenged Wareham to maintain his streak and eat Chipotle for 1,000 days. Along with the challenge, the brand sent him a limited-edition stainless steel gift card to help him reach his goal.

Along the way, Wareham won the Chipotle Taste Test Challenge, had his go-to Chipotle bowl tasted by TikTok star Keith Lee and had his bowl featured on the Chipotle app. He also beat the previous record of eating Chipotle for 500 days set by a Tiffin, Ohio, man named Bruce Wayne. (Yes, that is his real name, and there are photos of him online with a black mask and cape eating meal 500.)

The Newest Challenge

Around day 646, Wareham decided to add a new layer to the challenge set before him. In addition to eating Chipotle every day, he announced on his social media platforms that he would also eat Chipotle in every state including Hawaii and Alaska.

Why add more to an already big task?

"To be honest, the 50 states challenge was just something I randomly thought of one day," Wareham said. "I was trying to think of ways to better my content and do stuff that people would enjoy watching. Who doesn't like travel content? So, I thought it would be a good idea to eat Chipotle in every state!"

He is hoping to check off a state each week over the remaining time left in the challenge, but traveling to every state is costly. Wareham said in a recent video that he is working as many shifts as he can to make the travel possible. For now, he is hitting the states closest first. He has checked off Alabama (his home state), Mississippi, Florida and Louisiana.

As Wareham hits each state, he is taking a photo that gets added to a large map that is easy enough to tote around while he is driving, but flying with the board might get tricky. But after following his journey, you will learn he is not to be underestimated.

What is next?

Wareham's goal is to become a full-time content creator, but to do so he needs to continue to build his following on TikTok and Instagram and turn those followers into consumers of his YouTube channel. With a full-time job and two small children at home, it is difficult to find the time to make videos, but one thing Wareham doesn't lack is determination and persistence.
