Coastal Alabama Insurance will be hosting a "Kickin' it with Kelsey" benefit for insurance agent Kelsey Neel, donating all proceeds toward her cancer treatment.

Neel, who is battling breast cancer at age 30, was born and raised in Gulf Shores and previously worked as a swim instructor for the City of Gulf Shores and a swim coach at Gulf Shores High School.

"For the past five years, we have held a client appreciation day with a band, beer, jambalaya and free oysters from Navy Cove," said Reggie Pullam, owner of Coastal Alabama Insurance. "We look out for our clients, but we don't get to meet many of them in person. Usually the event is just for clients, but this year we are opening up to the community in hopes of raising money for some of Kelsey's procedures that aren't covered by insurance."

Pullam said the event will also feature a silent auction, raffle, bounce house and local musician Chase Brown.

Over 50 items have been donated already, according to Pullam. From restaurants to staycations, a 100 year-old armoire, Navy Cove eco-tourism excursion, dance classes, gift cards, rum baskets and more.

"Kelsey is a wonderful person. Since she is going through cancer, we wanted to merge events and celebrate her," Pullam said. "Kelsey was born and raised in Gulf Shores, worked for the rec center for 10 years, taught hundreds of kids to swim and breast cancer has thrown her a curve ball. She's on her ninth round of chemo and still has to go through radiation."

The event is free to the community and will take place on Oct. 7 from 11 a.m.to 2 p.m. at 3639 Gulf Shores Parkway, Suite 2.
