Cobblestone Hotel and Suites breaks ground in Foley

FOLEY—To accommodate the influx of visitors and tourists, Cobblestone Hotel and Suites broke ground in Foley.

Based in Wisconsin, Cobblestone Hotel and Suites has 127 locations across the nation, including one in Cullman, Alabama. This lodging facility offers multiple amenities including a complimentary breakfast buffet, Wi-Fi, daily newspaper and onsite convenience stores.

Mayor Ralph Hellmich said the hotel, located near the growing commercial area and city recreation complex, will be a benefit for economic growth and sports tourism.

"We are thrilled that Cobblestone chose Foley as its site for their new project," Hellmich said. "With local investors and local financing, it (the hotel) is a great project for our city."

On Feb. 22, individuals gathered on Koniar Way at the site where this hotel will be constructed, marking the occasion with a groundbreaking ceremony.

Hellmich expressed his excitement for the arrival of Cobblestone Hotel and Suites, emphasizing its role in meeting the accommodation needs of the city.

"It is a suite-style hotel that really fits our needs," he remarked. "With our sports tourism and market, we are very underbuilt for hotels."

Jeremy Griesbach, the president of development for Cobblestone Hotels, echoed Mayor Hellmich's sentiments, highlighting the collaborative efforts that made the project possible.

"Without the help of the city and others stepping up to help us with retail and strategy, this does not get done," Griesbach affirmed.

The project's completion is anticipated to occur within the coming year.
Another hotel, the Fairfield Inn with 107 units, is also under construction. When both hotels are open, the combined capacity will increase the number of hotel rooms in Foley by almost 20%.

Also planned is a resort-style hotel to be built at OWA. The OWA hotel is scheduled to open in 2025.
