Baldwin County held its 2024 Special Olympics at W. C. Majors Field in Fairhope on March 15, marking a cherished day for athletes and their families. The event kicked off with an inspiring opening ceremony, where special Olympians paraded around the track to cheers. Symbolizing the start of the games, the Olympic Torch was passed from Baldwin County Sheriff’s deputies and police officers across Baldwin. Competitions, including dashes, jumps and throws, showcased the talents of students from Baldwin County schools. This annual tradition, hosted for over 20 years, not only brings joy to families but also honors educators who support and teach students daily.
