A fatal fire in Foley claimed the life of one individual and a dog during the early morning hours of March 17 according to news release from the Foley Fire Department.

Emergency responders from Foley Fire and Foley Police Departments were dispatched to the scene of a reported fire at 303 W. Magnolia Ave. in Foley, early Sunday, March 17, at 12:16 a.m. Upon arrival, responders discovered a 32 ft. travel trailer RV engulfed in flames behind the residence with reports of a victim trapped inside.

According to reports, fire unit repsonders worked to fully extinguish the fire and began searching for victims. One occupant of the RV was able to escape the fire without injury. However, during the search, a male victim, identified as Dallas Omega Martin was found in the RV deceased with severe burns.

Authorities from the Alabama State Fire Marshal’s Office and Baldwin County Coroner’s Office were summoned to the scene to launch an investigation into the fire and subsequent fatality, working with Foley Fire and Foley Police Departments.

While the investigation remains ongoing, the cause of the fire remains undetermined due to the extensive damage sustained by the RV and lack of firsthand knowledge regarding the fire's origin. Preliminary autopsy results have confirmed that the victim's death was a direct result of the fire.

In addition to the loss of human life, a small dog was also found deceased inside the RV, likely succumbing to the fire.
