Dollar General has announced the completion of a recent remodel of its store located at 224 Gulf Shores Parkway in Gulf Shores. The remodeled store now features a produce section, expanding its offerings while maintaining the same categories, brands and products that customers associate with Dollar General.

Matthew Simonsen, Dollar General’s Senior Vice President of Real Estate and Store Development, expressed the company's commitment to being a positive beacon in Gulf Shores.

"At Dollar General, we strive to be a positive business partner and good community neighbor in Gulf Shores," said Simonsen. "Although we are not a grocery store, we believe the addition of produce in our Gulf Shores store highlights our commitment to deliver a pleasant shopping experience that includes affordable prices on quality products in a convenient location."

Dollar General's new produce section includes the top 20 items typically found in traditional grocery stores, covering approximately 80 percent of produce categories most grocery stores carry. The selection encompasses fresh fruits and vegetables such as tomatoes, onions, apples, strawberries, potatoes, sweet potatoes, lemons, limes, salad mixes and more. The store will continue to offer frozen and refrigerated food items, along with the familiar categories, brands and products customers trust Dollar General to provide.

In addition to its commitment to customer convenience and affordable access to food and household essentials, Dollar General strives to be a supportive community partner, as evident in its commitment to literacy and education initiatives through the Dollar General Literacy Foundation. The Gulf Shores store now provides an opportunity for schools, nonprofit organizations, and libraries within a 15-mile radius to apply for grants from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.

Since 1993, the foundation has awarded over $238 million in grants, benefiting more than 19.6 million individuals on their journey toward literacy and continued education. For additional information about the Dollar General Literacy Foundation, visit www.dgliteracy.com.
