Fairhope coffee shop explores creativity with menu

FAIRHOPE — With fall just a few weeks away, local coffee shops such as Kind Café are creating fall drinks to serve customers to get them in the spirit of the season.

When crafting a fall menu, Kind Café manager Kristin Wages described the process as more than just devising a recipe and adding it to the menu.

"A lot of times, I will brainstorm something, I will make it and let the team try it," Wages said.

The manager added that it is more of a group effort than anything.

"I get to explore my creativity and I really enjoy it," she said.

While Kind Café introduces new recipes annually, they aim to retain customer favorites.

"This year we brought back the apple cider chai because it did so well last year," Wages said. "We definitely try for the most part to switch things up, but we usually have one maybe two that we keep every season."

Wages explained how fall is her favorite season, so she loves to incorporate typical fall flavors.

"I am really big into apple, pumpkin, just very much the fall flavors," she said. The fall recipe curator said she is always looking for new ways to combine these flavors to create a fall drink that can be enjoyed by customers.

Kind Café, guided by the motto "people first, kindness always," prioritizes offering a unique customer experience distinct from other coffee shops.

"We always want to focus on the customer and how they're doing," said Wages. "Our main goal is always the customer."
