More than a dozen football players from Baldwin County had already inked National Letters of Intent on Wednesday, Dec. 20, in the first wave of Early Signing Day. Four came from Spanish Fort, three from Gulf Shores, two from Foley and one each from Fairhope, Daphne, Baldwin County and Bayside Academy.

The biggest question mark was answered early when Foley five-star receiver Perry Thompson officially picked Auburn over Alabama during a 10 a.m. ceremony.  He was joined by Lion offensive lineman Logan Joellenbeck who cemented his pledge to South Alabama.

The afternoon was highlighted by Spanish Fort defensive end Cole McConathy who put his signature on an NLI that locked in his commitment to the Miami Hurricanes.

Three more Toros found their next college homes, led by another member from the 2023 defense in linebacker Sterling Dixon who signed his commitment to Alabama.

Receiver Jacob Godfrey and defensive back Carl Fauntroy both landed with the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks and former Spanish Fort coach Bryant Vincent from the transfer portal. Godfrey is coming from New Mexico and Fauntroy was recently at UAB.

Another local addition to the ULM program will come in the form of Fairhope defensive back Ameyr Adams who recently decommitted from North Alabama. Adams was a first-team all-county representative for the Pirates.

The Class 5A state champion Gulf Shores Dolphins had three members from their undefeated team cement college commitments, including safety Ronnie Royal to NC State, defensive end Kingston Lowe to North Alabama and defensive back Braden Jackson to Arkansas State.

Daphne defensive lineman Tyler Durant and Baldwin County receiver Ky McNulty will both remain at in-state schools in Samford and Troy, respectively. Durant was named an AHSAA All-Star and McNulty, a member of the Tigers’ Class of 2023, recovered from a knee injury and reestablished his pledge to the Trojans.

Another AHSAA All-Star from Bayside Academy, lineman Graham Uter, is headed to Texas’ Dallas-Fort Worth area after he signed to join the Southern Methodist University program.

Stay tuned for full coverage from signing ceremonies in Foley and Spanish Fort.
