Gulf Shores City Schools will soon be making a wave of service as the school system recently announced the launch of their first "Gulf Shores Gives Back" day of service which will take place on March 14.

Per the release, the event will focus on collectively connecting students, teachers and community members in a collective effort to strengthen the community through projects ranging from beach cleanups and park revitalization to delivering meals to those in need and visiting local nursing homes.

The event, spearheaded by the Gulf Shores City Schools' Mental Health Advisory Committee, will unite students from grades K-12, and will include a pep rally at Gulf Shores Middle School at 8:30 a.m. on the day of the event.

There will be several way for community members to get involved in the event; from sponsorships to hosting or physically participating in a service project according to the release.

Additionally, several local organizations including The Learning Campus at Gulf State Park, the Center of Ecotourism and the Christian Service Center will be partnering with the school system for various service events.

The release further stated the event will be moved to March 15 in the event of rain or severe weather. For more information on sponsorships or to explore the various service projects, visit www.gsboe/gsgivesback.com.
