The Southern Union Bison received three signed National Letters of Intent from Gulf Shores High School after a trio of Dolphin soccer players sealed their commitments to play collegiately.

Mariana Cervantes and Ansley Warner will remain teammates on the women’s team and Talan Galvan is set to join the men’s team at Southern Union State in Wadley following a March 12 signing ceremony in Gulf Shores.

Chasing down history with a new career total of 86 goals so far, Galvan has kept up a torrid scoring pace this season and has helped the Dolphins to a 6-4 overall record. With 5 goals in 3 matches last week, the North-South All-Star MVP now owns 19 goals on the year entering Gulf Shores’ non-area match against St. Michael on Tuesday.

Warner and Cervantes have similarly helped lead the way for the Dolphins who own a 6-5-4 overall mark entering play within Class 5A Area 1 against Faith Academy on Friday. Warner, an all-state honorable mention with Fairhope last year, had potted 13 goals with 7 assists and Cervantes had registered 6 goals and 3 assists before last Tuesday’s match against Orange Beach.

Southern Union fielded its inaugural squads last season where the men’s team finished 9-6-1 overall with 2.31 goals per game. The women’s team went 5-8-3 overall but went right into conference play in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association and fell in the semifinal of the postseason bracket.
