Margaret Camilla Wood Weatherly, a proud native of Fairhope, Alabama, and a longtime resident of New Orleans, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at the age of 96.
Peggy graduated from the Marietta Johnson School of Organic Education in Fairhope, where she especially enjoyed folk dancing and the arts. She studied Interior Design at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York and painting at the University of New Orleans. She won numerous landscape painting awards in juried shows across the Gulf region. She also expressed herself by designing two homes for her family. She was treasured by her husband Chuck, and along with him, strongly supported and guided their family. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Charles Hartwell Weatherly and son-in-law, Terry Schill.
She is survived by her son, David Charles Weatherly (Jan M. Scherrer) and daughter, Susan Roberts Weatherly Schill; grandchildren, Anmei Weatherly, Mei Li Weatherly, Justin Michael Schill, Alexander Charles Schill, Pamela Severin Schill Wallace (Devin Wallace); great grandchildren, Scarlett Noelle Wallace and Isabella Jade Wallace; other relatives and friends.
A celebration of Peggy’s life was held Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 11:00 am in the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope. The visitation was at 10:00 am.
Interment followed at Colony Cemetery following funeral service.
