Mr. Norman Ronald McDaniel, a resident of Summerdale, Alabama, passed away Sat., Mar. 30, 2024, surrounded by his family and friends, at the age of 80.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Louise and Edward McDaniel, his siblings, Roy Bob McDaniel, James Edward McDaniel, and Andy Doyle McDaniel. He is survived by his wife, Mary Carolyn Gulledge McDaniel; daughters, Heather McDaniel Logan (Jim) of Eutaw, Alabama, and Dawn McDaniel Parker (Wally) of Summerdale, Alabama, grandchildren, Taylor Scout Parker (Sarah), Paxton Johnson Rohm (Brandon), James “Wil” Logan, Jr., Garrett Blake Johnson (Brandon), Anna Caroline Logan Robinson (Zeke), Rileigh Dawn Glass, and McDaniel Clifford Logan (Caroline); great grandchildren, Reed Stuart Rohm, Jamie McDaniel Logan, Harrison McDaniel Rohm, and Olivia James Parker; siblings, Elmer Garrett McDaniel and Mitzie McDaniel James (Randy), all of Robertsdale; sister-in-law, Reba McAlister Gulledge of Auburn; many nieces and nephews.

Ronnie was raised in Robertsdale on his family dairy farm. He attended Robertsdale High School and later graduated from Auburn University where he received his master’s degree in agriculture economics with honors. After graduating, Ronnie served his country in the Air Force Reserve. He worked at the Chilton County Auburn Extension Service for two years before returning to Baldwin County. He then began his career in Fairhope at Auburn University Research Center. That is where he and Mary Carolyn raised their girls and have many special memories. In 2013, he retired as superintendent.

Retirement brought Ronnie and his family to Summerdale where he continued to enjoy working in his satsuma orchard, gardening, cutting grass, golf cart rides in the afternoon and spending lots of time with family and friends at their Brigadoon Trail home on Little Lagoon.

Alongside whatever Ronnie did, he was always accompanied by his special companion Nez.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Pearl Green, Linda Barnes, Annette Williams, Elderly Care Services, and Gentiva Hospice.

Funeral services were held Tues., Apr. 2, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Summerdale, at 10:00 a.m.; visitation began at 9:00 a.m. Interment followed the funeral service at Wynn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made to First Baptist Church of Summerdale, 515 West Broadway, Ave., Summerdale, AL. 36580, or a charity of your choice.
