MOBILE  – Justin Shea Ulrich, a 44-year-old Robertsdale man, was sentenced in federal court to 25 months for illegal possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony.

According to court documents, Ulrich was implicated in a drug investigation when an informant reported he was selling methamphetamine. Agents from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives arranged to make a controlled purchase of methamphetamine from Ulrich at his residence. Agents conducted surveillance to document the drug deal.

A search warrant was obtained for Ulrich’s home, and agents seized additional methamphetamine and a firearm described as a loaded Smith & Wesson 9 mm pistol. Ulrich pled guilty to the drug charges in state court, and the gun charge was brought against him in federal court in Mobile and he pled guilty in March.

United States District Judge Kristi K. Dubose imposed the 25-month sentence and ordered that Ulrich would also serve three years on supervised release following him imprisonment. As a condition of his supervision, he will also undergo testing and treatment for drug and alcohol abuse and will be subject to a search of his person and premises upon reasonable suspicion. The firearm was ordered forfeited to the United States.
