Happy first week of school! Summer break has ended for many Baldwin County youth, and life is slowly returning to the normal grind.

We have put together a list of weekend events to get you out and about if the weather isn’t too hot. This weekend’s list includes everything from nights at the museum and a birthday bash to strong men and women and Jamaican Day.

Summer Nights at the Museum

  • What: The Daphne History Museum (also known as the Daphne Old Methodist Church Museum) is welcoming visitors into the museum with extended hours and free admission every Thursday in August. The building is the second oldest church in Baldwin County, constructed in 1858 and designated as a museum in 2001. Stop in and learn about the history of Daphne and the surrounding communities.
  • When: Thursday, Aug. 10, 6 to 8 p.m.
  • Where: Daphne History Museum, 405 Dyer Ave., Daphne
  • Price: Free to attend

Bagel Boy Foley Birthday Bash

  • What: Gulf Coast Media has been enjoying Bagel Boy since the beginning and now it is time to celebrate Bagel Boy’s first birthday. Stop by the Foley location and enjoy local food trucks, local small businesses, a dunk tank and fun.
  • When: Friday, Aug. 11, starting at 5 p.m.
  • Where: Bagel Boy Foley, 515 N. McKenzie St., Foley
  • Price: Free to attend

Alabama’s Strongest Man or Woman Challenge

  • What: Watch the strongest men and women compete for the title of Alabama’s Strongest. Competitors will compete in five events: Stones over bar, tug of war, iron cross/fire hydrant/pylon carry medley, axel deadlift and log press ladder.
  • When: Saturday, Aug. 12, 9 a.m.
  • Where: The Hangout, 101 E. Beach Blvd., Gulf Shores
  • Price: Free to attend

Sandstock

  • What: Dig out your favorite hippie attire and step back in time for a day of music and festivities. The music lineup includes Funky Lampshades, Sugarcane Jane, The Big Earl Show and more.
  • When: Saturday, Aug. 12, 11 a.m. until close
  • Where: Flora-Bama Lounge & Package, 17401 Perdido Key Dr., Pensacola

Kids Fishing Day

  • What: Join the naturalists of Meaher State Park for a morning of fishing off the pier. Bait will be provided but bring your fishing poles if you have them. Don’t forget your hat, water, sunglasses and sunscreen. The meeting point is at the fishing pier.
  • When: Saturday, Aug. 12, 8 to 10 a.m.
  • Where: Meaher State Park, 5200 Battleship Pkwy. East, Spanish Fort
  • Price: $3 park entry fee

Jamaica Day

  • What: The Foley Public Library’s south parking lot is the place to be for a bit of Jamaican culture, food, games and prizes. For a small donation, guests can purchase drinks and a plate of Jamaican food. The day will include free taste testing, a Domino tournament, Ludo/Ludi, hopscotch, cornhole, a Jamaican culture display, a DJ and more.   • When: Saturday, Aug. 12, 3 to 6 p.m.
