Wallace A. "Wally" Sabin

Mr. Wallace A. "Wally" Sabin was a native of Providence, Rhode Island, a former resident of Loxley, Alabama and a current resident of Fairhope, Alabama. He passed away on Thur., Nov. 16, 2023, at the age of 99. Mr. Sabin was a WWII Submarine Veteran serving in the United States Navy. His submarine was present at the signing of The Peace Treaty for the surrender of Japan. He was a member of the Submarine Association and The USS Drum Association. Mr. Sabin retired from International Paper after working there for over 30 years. He served as a city councilman for The Town of Loxley for over 20 years. He was community minded and was a long-time active member of The Loxley First Baptist Church serving in many capacities. Wally was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances Sabin and is survived by his son, John W. Sabin (Andrea "Ann"), daughter, Helen Jean Matthews, four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Funeral services were held Mon., Nov. 20, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Mack Funeral Home with Rev. Brad Baxter officiating. A visitation was held Mon., Nov. 20, 2023, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. A committal service with military honors was held Tues., Nov. 21, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Spanish Fort, Alabama.
