It is time to dust off your broom and break in your running shoes because the Haunted Hustle is approaching.

The City of Gulf Shores announced the dates for its annual Haunted Hustle early to give participants plenty of time to plan their costumes and get their rides ready. This horrifyingly fun event, Oct. 21, has something for everyone; a Haunted Hustle 5K, Fun Run, Witches on Wheels and a live DJ.

The Haunted Hustle event is a family-friendly event for all ages and is free to attend. Wear your best Halloween costumes, grab a group of family and friends and spend the evening listening to the DJ, catching candy and celebrating the season.

The Witches on Wheels bicycle parade begins at 6 p.m. to kick off the evening. Witches and warlocks are invited to jump on their brooms and parade on W. Beach Boulevard and the Town Green throwing beads and candy to bystanders. The cost to participate in Witches on Wheels is $25 until Oct. 1. Beginning Oct. 2, the registration fee will increase to $30 and race day registration Oct. 21 is $35. All participants will receive a goody bag and an event T-shirt. Preferred shirt size is guaranteed if registered by Oct. 1.

The 1-mile Fun Run will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. This is the course for noncompetitive goblins or those unafraid of zombies. Early registration is $25 through Oct. 1, $30 beginning Oct. 2 and race-day registration Oct. 21 is $35. All participants will receive a finishers medal, goody bag and event T-shirt.

The Haunted Hustle 5K will begin at 7:10 p.m. Ghosts and monsters of all sorts are invited to enjoy an evening run on our USATF-certified course. The 5K course will begin and end in front of Gulf Place Town Green. Early registration for the Haunted Hustle 5K is $30 through Oct. 1, $35 beginning Oct. 2 and race-day registration Oct. 21 is $40. All participants will receive a goody bag and an event T-shirt.
