2023 Foley Christmas parade, events rescheduled

FOLEY – The Foley Kiwanis Christmas Parade and other holiday events set for Friday, Dec. 1, and Saturday, Dec. 2, have been rescheduled due to the threat of inclement weather.


The parade had been scheduled for Saturday morning. Weather forecasts predict a 90% chance of rain Saturday with 20 mile an hour wind gusts.


The parade will be rescheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9. The parade route will continue to be the same as previous Christmas parades. The lineup will begin at 8 a.m. between the former Foley armory site and the Foley Public Library.


Other Foley holiday events scheduled for the weekend have also been rescheduled. The annual Christmas in the Park celebration will take place Friday, Dec. 8. The event will include the lighting of the Foley Christmas Tree, Christmas carols and a visit from Santa.


Christmas in the Park had been scheduled for Friday, Dec. 1.


Foley’s Let It Snow event, which follows the parade, has been rescheduled from Dec. 2 to Dec. 9. The event includes snow flurries, children’s activities, live entertainment, a Christmas marketplace and a visit from Santa. Let It Snow begins at 11 a.m. in Heritage Park.


Foley Main Street will hold its Downtown Foley Christmas Open House on Saturday, Dec. 9 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Downtown businesses will offer a variety of specials. The event will also include a Christmas decoration contest between downtown merchants. The event had been scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 2.


Other Christmas events set for this weekend will continue to take place as planned.


The Mobile Youth Symphony will hold a holiday concert at the Foley Civic Center on Friday, Dec. 1. The performance begins at 7 p.m. A $5 donation is suggested.


The Christmas Trail at the Foley Graham Creek Nature Preserve is still scheduled to begin Dec. 2. Organizers will continue to monitor weather conditions. The trail, which features thousands of lights through the preserve, is scheduled to be held Dec. 2, 8, 9, 15, 16 and 17 beginning at 5:30 p.m.


The Baldwin Pops will perform its annual Christmas Concert on Monday, Dec. 4. That event will be from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Foley Civic Center.
