Artists work with paints, charcoal, steel and wood. On Saturday, April 22, on the Eastern Shore, the artist’s medium will be sidewalk chalk.

The Baldwin County Trailblazers will host families, individuals and groups for the third-annual Chalk the Trail.

When you pass by sidewalk chalk at the store, it may bring back fond memories of your childhood or of your children and the works of art that filled your driveway and sidewalk. Relive those memories or make new ones during this unique fundraiser and contest.

The event helps raise awareness about local trails and raises funds for trail maintenance, development and connectivity. All proceeds benefit the Baldwin County Trailblazers’ mission of advocacy.

Those wishing to participate can visit www.baldwincountytrailblazers.org. Each participant or group is designated a sidewalk "square" to fill. With the $25 registration fee, participants will receive a goodie bag with a 12-count pastel chalk set, snacks and other fun giveaways. At registration, participants can also pre-purchase lunch from Two Sisters for $6.

This year’s event will take place at the Eastern Shores trail near the pier in Fairhope and coincides with Fairhope’s Earth Day festivities so plan to spend the day in Fairhope.
