Foley has a new place where you can cut into a juicy steak, and local first responders, police and medical personnel were some of the first to test it out.

A Texas Roadhouse opened Monday, Aug. 7, at 3311 S. McKenzie St. Last week, as the restaurant trained servers, line cooks, hosts, meat cutters and all its employees, Foley Police and Fire, Magnolia Springs Fire Department and staff at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center were the first to try the restaurant's steaks, fall-off-the-bone ribs and made-from-scratch sides.

Prior to opening, the Kentucky-based restaurant, which opened its first location in 1993 and now has more than 600 in 49 states and 10 countries, hosted invitation-only pre-opening events and raised money for Foley Sister Cities and Baldwin County Education Coalition.

"The Baldwin County Educational Coalition mobilizes resources to meet the needs of our public schools," Managing Partner Trey Tew said in a news release. "Sister Cities provides opportunities for Foley residents to exchange education, culture and commerce with our sister city, Hennef, Germany. We're proud to celebrate our opening by supporting these incredible local charities that enrich the quality of life for all who live and work in Foley."

Foley's new Texas Roadhouse hired 260 new employees.

In 2022, the chain was named one of Fortune Magazine's Most Admired Companies. It ranked third on Newsweek's list of America's Best Customer Service for Casual Dining Restaurants in 2021.

The restaurant serves dinner Monday through Thursday from 3 to 10 p.m. and Friday from 3 to 11 p.m., and it is open for lunch and dinner Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
