Get ready to vote away, as both Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are once again in the running for a USA Today's 10 Best Reader's Choice Award in the "best small towns" category.

This time around, Gulf Shores is nominated for "best small town in the South" and "best coastal small town," Orange Beach is nominated for "best small town food scene" and the Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail (Gulf State Park) is nominated for "best recreational trail."

Per the official release, online voting is open now and will end at 12 p.m. on Monday, April 1. Votes can be submitted once daily per device, including a cell phone, tablet or computer, and the ten nominees with the highest votes will be included in the "10 best" for that category.

"Nominees for all categories in the 10Best Readers' Choice Awards are chosen by a panel of relevant experts which include a combination of editors from USA TODAY; editors from 10Best.com; relevant expert contributors; and sources for both these media and other Gannett properties," the release stated. "The nomination panel for each award category is displayed on its associated contest page."

Beth Gendler, president and CEO of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach Tourism, said the accomplishment is a testament to both cities commitment to remain a high quality destination.

"It is exciting that our two cities are back on these lists and is a testimony to our cities' commitments to creating a high quality of life for residents, which then makes our area an enticing destination for visitors," Gendler said.
Gulf Shores Mayor Robert Craft echoed Gendler's sentiments, citing the city's motto "Small Town, Big Beach."

"We are incredibly honored to be nominated for Best Small Town and Best Coastal Small Town in the USA Today's 10Best Readers' Choice Awards," Craft said. "This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our residents and businesses who make Gulf Shores such a special place. We encourage everyone to visit Gulf Shores and experience our beautiful beaches, delicious food and warm hospitality for themselves."
