Seven teams will represent Baldwin County at the AHSAA South Super Regionals in Montgomery starting Wednesday, Oct. 25. Four will enter as their respective area’s champion and three will enter as the runner up.

Bayshore Christian (Class 2A Area 1), Orange Beach (Class 4A Area 1), Gulf Shores (Class 5A Area 1) and Bayside Academy (Class 6A Area 2) came out on top of its bracket in the area round to open the regional level with a top seed. Elberta (5A-A1), Spanish Fort (6A-A2) and Fairhope (7A-A2) also punched tickets to Super Regionals with a runner-up finish in the area tournament.

The Montgomery Multiplex will host the regional round next Wednesday-Friday before the Birmingham CrossPlex serves as the host of the state tournament that is scheduled for Oct. 31-Nov. 2.

Class 2A: Oct. 25, 26

J.U. Blacksher Bulldogs at Bayshore Christian Eagles

Bayshore Christian swept the Chickasaw Chieftains in the area finals (25-11, 25-6, 25-10) to earn the top seed for a second year in a row. The other first-round match at regionals features Pike Liberal Arts and Francis Marion.

Class 4A: Oct. 26, 27

Andalusia Bulldogs at Orange Beach Makos

Orange Beach used wins over Satsuma (3-0) and UMS-Wright (3-1) for its second consecutive area crown in as many seasons on the Class 4A stage. The Makos bounced back from a first-set loss in the finals to earn a victory with set scores of 18-25, 25-13, 26-24, 26-17.

The other first-round match at regionals features Montgomery Catholic and Hale County.

Class 5A: Oct. 25, 26

Providence Christian Eagles at Gulf Shores Dolphins

Elberta Warriors at Rehobeth Rebels

After Gulf Shores swept B.C. Rain and Elberta swept Williamson in the first round of the area tournament, both Baldwin County teams locked in a trip to regionals. The Dolphins took the top seed with a sweep of the Warriors (25-9, 25-20, 25-16) in the championship round.

With a first-round win at regionals, Gulf Shores would face the winner of the Beauregard-Marbury match and Elberta would face the winner of the Elmore County-Eufaula match.

Class 6A: Oct. 25, 26

St. James Trojans at Bayside Academy Admirals

Spanish Fort Toros at Pike Road Patriots

Similarly, both regional representatives earned first-round sweeps to secure another trip to the second bracket. Host Spanish Fort beat Baldwin County and Bayside Academy took down Robertsdale to set up a rematch of last year’s Class 6A State Championship.

In the area finals, the Admirals notched a 25-17, 25-20, 25-20 sweep to enact revenge on the Toros ending their previous 24-year streak of being area champions last year.

In the other first-round matches at regionals, Bayside Academy would face the winner of the Northridge-Briarwood Christian match and Spanish Fort would draw the winner of the Pelham-Hillcrest Tuscaloosa match if both squads earn victories to open the bracket.

Class 7A: Oct. 26, 27

Fairhope Pirates at Enterprise Wildcats

Fairhope is heading to its seventh straight super regional bracket with a fourth consecutive win over Daphne in the first round of the area tournament. The Pirates fell in the area championship via sweep and would draw the winner of the St. Paul’s-Central Phenix City match with a first-round win at regionals.
