Gulf Shores senior Ethan Sharkey claimed the first Seacrest Furniture Athlete of the Week for 2024 after he helped the Dolphin wrestling team back to the Class 5A duals state semifinals.

He delivered a win in the 126-pound division to help Gulf Shores earn a 73-5 win over Beauregard last Saturday to set up a Friday meeting with Tallassee with a trip to the finals on the line. Sharkey previously recorded his 200th career win, as well as his 100th via pin, and is committed to Montevallo for both wrestling and track and field.
